Whispers of Form by Treesa George

“Whispers of Form” is a project by Treesa George, a Diploma in Fashion Design student at JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru. Inspired by the transformative process of fused glass art, the collection presents an occasional ready-to-wear range that explores themes of unity, resilience, and beauty through innovative textile techniques and contemporary design.

Design Brief

Fused glass art is created by bringing together individual fragments of glass through heat, transforming separate pieces into a harmonious whole. This journey from fragmentation to unity serves as the conceptual foundation of the collection. Rather than replicating the appearance of glass, the designer translates its qualities of transparency, luminosity, layering, and transformation into wearable fashion.A defining feature of the collection is the use of Bojagi patchwork, inspired by the traditional Korean wrapping cloth technique. The patchwork symbolises individual fragments coming together to create a cohesive composition, reflecting the essence of fused glass. This is further enhanced through a translucent encapsulation technique, where opaque fabric is enclosed between layers of sheer organza, creating depth, dimension, and a luminous effect reminiscent of glass artworks.

Designed for women aged 21–35 and young girls aged 5–7, the collection offers contemporary occasional wear suitable for festive gatherings, cultural events, exhibitions, and intimate celebrations. Flowing silhouettes, refined layering, and handcrafted detailing create an elegant visual language that balances delicacy with structure. The collection aligns with the theme by faithfully translating the process and visual characteristics of Fused Glass Art into fashion. Through layered construction, transparency, colour interplay, and innovative surface development, each garment reflects the ideas of transformation and harmony while remaining modern and wearable.Organza serves as the primary fabric, chosen for its lightweight and transparent qualities, while satin adds subtle sheen and structure. The colour palette draws directly from fused glass artworks, featuring vibrant shades of yellow, red, blue, and green that celebrate the interaction of colour and light.Through “Whispers of Form,” the designer successfully transforms the artistry of fused glass into contemporary fashion, creating garments that celebrate craftsmanship, creativity, and the beauty of bringing individual elements together to form something extraordinary.
