The project is designed for Gen Z consumers and contemporary fashion audiences who seek individuality, storytelling, and culturally rooted design within their everyday style choices. Their preferences for modern aesthetics, wearable comfort, and visual identity remain central to the design process. The design approach focuses on accessibility, functionality, and modern usability, ensuring that the craft becomes relevant within present-day fashion systems. Through research into changing consumer behavior and lifestyle patterns, the project identified the need to reinterpret traditional crafts through contemporary applications rather than preserving them only in ceremonial or heritage formats.
Materials such as cotton-based streetwear fabrics and handcrafted embroidery elements were combined with techniques including reverse darning, graphic adaptation, and hybrid print-embroidery production methods to achieve both scalability and artisan involvement. Visually, the project is defined by minimal geometric compositions, structured layouts, earthy tones, and contemporary streetwear-inspired styling, reflecting a balance between heritage and modern fashion culture. The final outcome, a contemporary apparel collection featuring Toda-inspired t-shirts, hoodies, and casual wear, embodies the idea of making traditional craft wearable, accessible, and culturally relevant in everyday life.Through this project, the designer aims to highlight how traditional crafts can evolve within modern systems without losing their authenticity, positioning design as a tool for cultural continuity, innovation, and artisan empowerment. Ultimately, “Toda Embroidery” stands as a reflection of adaptation and relevance, where heritage is not only preserved but actively integrated into contemporary living through fashion.
