“The Wuthered Light” is a fashion collection by Syeira Kate Fernandes, a designer of BSc Fashion and Apparel Design 2023 at JD School of Design, Goa. Inspired by the poetic beauty of fading light and the quiet elegance of twilight, the collection explores the theme of timeless sophistication, romance, and understated luxury. It aims to capture the essence of softened radiance and faded opulence through contemporary evening wear, while responding to the desire for emotionally resonant and refined fashion.
The collection is designed for women aged 20–35 attending formal evening occasions, including receptions, cocktail events, and intimate celebrations, keeping their preference for elegance, individuality, and sophistication at the core of the design process.The design approach focuses on craftsmanship, structure, movement, and luxurious detailing, ensuring that the collection is both visually striking and wearable. Through research into evening wear aesthetics and the atmospheric qualities of twilight, the collection identifies the appeal of garments that balance dramatic presence with subtle refinement.
Materials such as satin, velvet, and pure satin silk, along with techniques including Kashida embroidery, beaded lace application, and intricate hand beading, were chosen to achieve richness, texture, and depth. Visually, the collection is defined by deep muted tones, sculpted bodices, flowing silhouettes, and delicate embellishments, reflecting the transition between light and shadow and the beauty of restrained glamour. The final outcome, an evening wear collection, embodies grace, emotional depth, and quiet luxury, seeking to create memorable experiences for the wearer.Through this collection, the designer aims to highlight the enduring appeal of handcrafted embellishment and timeless design, positioning fashion as a tool for storytelling and self-expression. Ultimately, “The Wuthered Light” stands as a reflection of elegance and introspection, where fading light becomes a symbol of beauty, sophistication, and enduring charm.
