Inspired by the rhythm, texture, and structure of hand-braided fibres, the collection reimagines traditional braiding as both a decorative and structural design feature. The designs focus on sculptural corsets paired with tailored trousers, skirts, and fluid draped silhouettes. Intricately handcrafted jute braids create patterns that add depth, movement, and dimension, allowing texture to become the primary language of design rather than relying on prints or heavy embellishments. The collection draws visual inspiration from natural materials such as woven fibres, handmade ropes, botanical textures, and organic landscapes. By embracing the authenticity and imperfections of natural materials, the garments achieve a balance between artisanal heritage and contemporary elegance. Each braid is carefully positioned to enhance the silhouette while showcasing the skill and precision of handmade construction.
One of the key challenges during development was working with jute, a naturally coarse and inflexible material. Creating clean, consistent braids and integrating them into modern garments required extensive experimentation and technical refinement. Maintaining a minimalist aesthetic while ensuring visual interest through texture alone also demanded thoughtful design planning. The collection uses a cotton-linen blend fabric as the primary base material, selected for its durability, breathability, and natural texture. Handcrafted jute braids serve as the central design element, creating sculptural surfaces across the garments. A monochromatic beige colour palette, inspired by the natural tones of cotton, linen, and jute, reinforces the collection’s calm, timeless, and sustainable identity.Through “The Braided Essence,” the designer demonstrates how traditional handcraft can be elevated into contemporary fashion. The collection celebrates sustainability, craftsmanship, and innovation, presenting natural fibres as luxurious design elements while highlighting the enduring beauty of handmade artistry.
