The collection is designed for individuals who value artistic expression, cultural narratives, and versatile fashion. Keeping comfort, adaptability, and individuality at the core of the design process, the garments are created to seamlessly fit contemporary lifestyles while carrying traces of heritage craftsmanship. The design approach focuses on textile innovation, surface exploration, and modern wearability. Through research into Scandinavian folk art, particularly its stylized florals, symmetrical compositions, and nature-inspired forms, the project identified opportunities to reinterpret traditional motifs through contemporary techniques.
Cotton was selected as the primary material for its versatility and suitability for experimentation. Techniques such as bleaching, hand painting, embroidery, and bead embellishment were used to create layered textile surfaces that add depth, texture, and visual richness. The development process involved extensive experimentation with fabrics and motif placements to achieve a balance between handcrafted authenticity and modern aesthetics. Visually, the collection is defined by fluid silhouettes, layered styling, and richly textured surfaces. A predominantly black base, inspired by traditional Scandinavian decorative backgrounds, is enhanced with vibrant accents of green, red, orange, blue, and gold, creating a striking contrast that highlights the intricate surface details. The final outcome is a collection of contemporary garments that celebrate heritage through modern textile storytelling. Through this project, the designer highlights the enduring relevance of traditional art forms in contemporary fashion. Ultimately, “Layered Stories” reflects the power of craftsmanship and cultural continuity, demonstrating how heritage-inspired design can evolve into modern, wearable expressions that preserve tradition while embracing innovation.
