Bridal Studio by Vibha G B

“Bridal Studio” is a project by Vibha G B, a BSc Interior Design and Decoration 2023 batch student at JD School of Design, powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru. Inspired by the spatial philosophy and experiential qualities of Hoysala temple architecture, the project explores the theme of journey, transformation, and emotional storytelling through contemporary retail design. It aims to redefine bridal saree shopping as an immersive and meaningful experience while responding to the often chaotic and impersonal nature of conventional retail environments.

Design Brief

The project is designed for brides seeking a calm, intimate, and personalized shopping experience, keeping emotional connection, privacy, and comfort at the core of the design process. Conceived as a bridal saree boutique, the project transforms retail into a carefully curated spatial journey where movement through the space mirrors the emotional transition associated with marriage and new beginnings.
The design approach focuses on experiential sequencing, human-scale interaction, material authenticity, and emotional engagement, ensuring that the outcome is both functional and culturally meaningful. Through research into Hoysala temple architecture and traditional Kanchipuram saree shopping experiences, the project identifies the importance of procession, gradual revelation,

and sensory atmosphere in shaping memorable spaces. Materials such as stone, lime plaster, wood, and soft natural finishes, along with techniques including layered spatial planning, filtered lighting, subtle storytelling details, and controlled transitions between public and private zones, were chosen to achieve warmth, serenity, and intimacy.Visually, the project is defined by earthy textures, sculptural detailing, soft filtered light, and sequential spatial compositions that reflect the craftsmanship, symbolism, and experiential richness of temple architecture. The final outcome, a contemporary bridal saree boutique, embodies ritual, elegance, and emotional connection while seeking to create a memorable and immersive bridal shopping experience.Through this project, the designer aims to highlight how traditional architectural philosophies can shape modern retail environments, positioning design as a tool for storytelling, emotional engagement, and cultural continuity. Ultimately, “Bridal Studio” stands as a reflection of transition and celebration, where architecture transforms shopping into a personal and meaningful journey rooted in tradition and experience.
