“AUTOMATIVE EXPERIENTIAL MUSUEM” is a project by Tejal Jain, a BSc Interior Design and Decoration 2023 batch student at JD School of Design, powered by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bengaluru. Inspired by the craft of coin-making and the legacy of Royal Enfield motorcycles, the project explores the theme of material evolution, movement, and industrial storytelling through immersive spatial design. It aims to transform the conventional museum experience into an engaging narrative journey while responding to the need for experiential and interactive exhibition environments.
The project is designed for motorcycle enthusiasts, museum visitors, design audiences, and history lovers, keeping engagement, movement, and sensory storytelling at the core of the design process. Conceived as an experiential automotive museum, the project creates a sequential spatial journey that narrates the transformation of metal, craft, and mobility over time.The design approach focuses on experiential circulation, material expression, spatial layering, and immersive storytelling, ensuring that the outcome is both educational and emotionally engaging. Through research into coin-making traditions and the evolution of motorcycle engineering, the project identifies the relationship between metal, refinement, circulation, and technological advancement.
Materials such as raw metal, stone, brushed brass, polished finishes, and layered industrial textures, along with techniques including curvilinear circulation, level transitions, material sequencing, and experiential zoning, were chosen to achieve continuity, movement, and historical depth.Visually, the project is defined by metallic textures, fluid spatial forms, layered material transitions, and dramatic experiential pathways that reflect the circulation of coins and the movement of motorcycles. The final outcome, an immersive automotive exhibition and museum space, embodies transformation, innovation, and craftsmanship while seeking to create a memorable journey through the history of mobility and material evolution.Through this project, the designer aims to highlight how traditional craft principles can inform contemporary exhibition design, positioning design as a tool for storytelling, cultural reinterpretation, and experiential engagement. Ultimately, “AUTOMATIVE EXPERIENTIAL MUSUEM” stands as a reflection of movement and transformation, where material, craft, and technology converge to create a dynamic and immersive spatial narrative.
