The project is designed for cultural enthusiasts, travellers, and visitors interested in traditional brewing practices, keeping their curiosity, comfort, and sensory experience at the core of the design process. The design approach focuses on experiential planning, cultural immersion, functionality, and visual storytelling, ensuring that the environment feels both engaging and authentic. Through research into Newari architecture and indigenous Nepali drink-making traditions, the project identifies the importance of preserving cultural identity through spatial experiences. Materials such as natural wood, carved wooden panels, earthy finishes, and handcrafted detailing, along with techniques including layered spatial transitions, carved partitions, and heritage-inspired display systems, were chosen to create warmth, authenticity, and a strong cultural ambience.
Visually, the project is defined by earthy browns, deep reds, muted gold tones, intricate carved textures, and warm lighting that reflect the richness of Newari craftsmanship. The final outcome, a culturally inspired wine brewing and tasting centre, embodies tradition, craftsmanship, and immersive storytelling while encouraging visitors to connect with indigenous Nepali heritage through both space and experience.Through this project, the designer aims to highlight the significance of traditional craft and brewing culture within contemporary hospitality design, positioning interiors as a tool for cultural preservation, engagement, and experiential learning. Ultimately, “Madira Rasa Angan” stands as a reflection of heritage and sensory exploration, where architecture and craftsmanship come together to celebrate the spirit of Nepali culture.
